We offer weekly outings around the Waikato region with free transport. You pay for your personal purchases eg entry fees (where applicable) lunch or coffee. Bookings are essential as the trips are very popular. Preference is given to Friends of Age Concern. Click here to find out more about joining.

Thursday 2nd May

Woodlands Estate

Woodlands Estate, Gordonton is a historic homestead, garden and café, full of history and timeless charm. We will have the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the historic homestead and garden estate. Following this there will be lunch at the onsite café and a stop off on the way home to Manderin Tree art gallery in Gordonton.

Time: 9am – leaving Age Concern office – 150 Grantham st, Return by 3pm

Cost: Gardens – free admission, Homestead - $3 admission, Gallery – free admission, lunch at your own cost.

Lunch: Garden Grove Café, menu and cabinet options available


Tuesday 7th

Windows Restaurant (Wintec)

Windows Restaurant is situated in the centre for hospitality at the Rotokuari Wintec campus. It is a space that students are able to learn their trade and sharpen their skills in a restaurant setting.

Time: 12pm at Windows Restaurant, Wintec Rotokauri campus. Entrance from Avalon drive. Parking available in the visitor car park off Gilchrist St.

Cost: $15 per seron for 2 course meal (Note, windows is cashless – Eftpos only)


Thursday 16th May

Rangiriri

Visit the Pounamu Taonga Greenstone shop (and workshop) and then onto the iconic Rangiriri Hotel for lunch.

Time: 9am leave Age Concern office – 150 Grantham Street, Return by 3pm

Cost: Cost of your lunch at Rangiriri Hotel (Note: there are options for half sized lunch meals available at $20 in addition to the main menu).

Thursday 23rd May

Kirk Café

Meet for lunch at the Kirk café located @ The Link,4 Te Aroha Street, Hamilton East

Time: Meet at 12pm

Cost: Price of your lunch. Menu and cabinet options available


Thursday 30th May

Waikato Museum

Join the group for a guided tour of our amazing Waikato Museum. Our tour guide will take the group through a 45-minute walk and talk. Following this, everyone will have the opportunity to explore at their leisure. After the tour, the group will continue to a nearby spot for lunch at Hood St Bistro where there are various menu items to choose from.

Time: Meet 10.30am at the museum,1 Grantham Street, Hamilton Central. (Note, there is some paid parking nearby, but you may want to consider alternative transport)

Cost: $6 per person for museum tour, cost of lunch.

Thursday 6th June

The Bank Bar and Brasserie

Meet for lunch at The Bank where some great lunch deals are on offer. The Bank offers a regular menu as well as a range of $14 lunch specials.

Time: 12pm at The Bank, 117 Victoria St, Hamilton. (Note: there is paid street parking as well as knox st carpark in walking distance but alternative transport options should be considered).

Thursday 13th June

Otorohanga and Te Kuiti

Visit to Otorohanga Kiwi house, stop at Bosco’s café for lunch the group will visit Te Kuiti where everyone can check out the local history including Sir Colin Meads statue before heading back to Hamilton.

Time: 9am leave Age Concern Office, return by 3pm

Cost: Otorohanga Kiwi house $26 per person, cost of your lunch

Grey Street Kitchen

Meet for lunch at the Grey Street Kitchen, 355 Grey Street, Hamilton East

Time: 12pm

Cost: Cost of your lunch, menu and cabinet options available


Thursday 27th June

Movies in Te Awamutu

Visit the The Regent Theatre in Te Awamutu for a step back in time. Private screening of “The Great Escaper” followed by lunch at the Story Teller Eatery and a stop off at the Rose Gardens

Time: leave Age Concern office by 9am, Return by 3pm

Cost: movies, $8 per person, cost of your lunch – menu and cabinet options available

Thursday 4th July

Boofs Ice Cream Diner

For a unique experience, we will be visiting Boofs who have more than 75 flavours of ice cream. There are options for ice cream cones, sundaes, milkshakes, soda floats and more (cabinet food also available)

Time: 12pm at Boofs, 6 West Street, Frankton

Cost: Cost of your ice cream / menu items


Thursday 11th July

Cambridge

Check out the town! Starting at the town hall, take a meander through the town of Cambridge, take a look at the local hotspots, antique stores and boutiques. Following this, head to Ohaupo for a late lunch at Monovale Blueberries – Café Irresistible.

Time: Leave age concern office 9am, Return by 3pm

Cost: Cost of lunch (and any shopping)

Thursday 18th July

Mavis & Co (Rototuna)

Meet for lunch at Mavis & Co in the Rototuna shopping centre. Menu and cabinet options available.

Time: 12pm

Thursday 25th July

Bowl and Social

Lets go Bowling! Meet at Bowl and Social for a game or two. Located at 340 Victoria street (level 2 Sky City Hamilton) drink and meal options available onsite.

Cost: $16 for one game / $27 for 2 games

Time: Meet 11.45am. (lane booked to start at 12pm) at Bowl and Social level 2, Sky city Hamilton. (Note: the is paid street parking and parking building available but public transport options should be considered)

All trips will have a maximum number of attendees, this will be a first in first serve basis with waitlists available.
